Another travelling day as we continue to push through the vase Australian outback, making our way to White Cliffs. Enjoying a stop at Cobar, where you will wander through the Great Cobar Heritage Centre, a beautiful building fitted with wonderful displays of Cobar's mining history. Having lunch here, we journey on, watching the plains reel by as we keep an eye out for wildlife. Arriving in to White Cliffs, we settle in to the Underground Motel, a disused opal mine that has been converted into an oasis (there are rooms above ground for those who do not want the underground experience).

DAY 5: (BLD) WHITE CLIFFS TO BROKEN HILL Monday 27 May 2019

After the last couple of days crossing this great land, we make our way to Broken Hill to enjoy the next two nights exploring this lively community. A true outback city in every sense, Broken Hill is a living, breathing time capsule where the great mining prosperity of yesteryear blends seamlessly with a rising modern art scene. Upon arriving we enjoy lunch at the Musicians Club before seeing the spiritual quality of the outback captured at the Pro Hart Gallery. Afterwards we head to our hotel to settle in before we delight our visual senses and experience the * International Sculpture Symposium. It goes without saying that the best time to visit the Sculptures is at sunset especially with a glass of bubbles in your hand. Find a peaceful place and just let yourself be completely immersed while watching the elongating shadows spread across the earth and the colours of the sculptures transform from browns to reds, as the sun dips below the horizon. Such a memorable experience to have before returning to our hotel for dinner.

DAY 6: (BLD) EXPLORING BROKEN HILL Tuesday 28 May 2019

We are all ears this morning as our local guide reveals to us the town’s fascinating history, drawing our attention to the historic buildings that line the streets. Then it’s off to the best view in town, The Line of Lode Lookout which sits side by side with the Miner’s Memorial. This dramatic, iconic structure on the edge of the mullock heap is where you’ll be treated to spectacular views of Broken Hill and beyond. Back in town, visit the Silver City Mint and Art Centre, where the dramatic “Big Picture” painted by Peter Anderson will be the highlight. Become enthralled by the breathtaking huge skies and red rocky earth as you follow the ancient river beds dotted with gum trees. Feeling the power of a massive thunderstorm unfolding upon this striking landscape as you gaze out into the distant Flinders Ranges, all portrayed on the world’s largest acrylic canvas! Afterwards we travel to Silverton, a picturesque ghost town, that to this day, still displays a number of historical buildings. Enjoying lunch at the Silverton Pub before stepping back in time at the Silverton Gaol and Historical Museum. Contemplate the heyday of Silverton while viewing the many comprehensive displays of memorabilia. It’s now a hop skip and a jump to the Mundi Mundi Lookout, to survey the flat heart of the Australian outback that extends outwardly forever. After what can only be described as an exceptional day of discovery, we head back to our hotel for dinner and a well-deserved rest.

The town became hugely important as an industrial rail link from Broken Hill and Port Pirie and in its height, over one hundred trains a day passed through the town. It is therefore hardly surprising that the "Steamtown" Heritage Rail Centre is a fitting place for you to enjoy lunch and learn more about this important South Australian town. Arriving into Port Augusta we settle in for the evening.
