DAY 1: (D) BRISBANE TO TENTERFIELD Wednesday 17 April 2019

Welcome aboard your New England Easter Tour. Chatting amongst ourselves, we head to the rose and rodeo capital of Warwick to enjoy lunch before meeting some loyal friends in Stanthorpe. Visiting Lawdogs Australia is not just for the dog lovers, as it’s all about their journey through law enforcing training. Witness demonstrations of protection, detection and agility in the live “Dog Show with Bite!” It is from here that we travel to Tenterfield and settle in for the night.

DAY 2: (BLD) UNVIELING TENTERFIELD Thursday 18 April 2019

Before departing this morning, we explore the township of Tenterfield through the eyes of our guide as they lead us on a sightseeing tour. At Stannum House, the jewel of New England, hear of the rich history bestowed within the walls of this great mansion before enjoying lunch. We then take a moment to regard Tenterfield’s historic cork tree. Known as the Wishing Tree in English folklore, it is believed to be one of the largest in Australia. Visit the School of Arts, a memorial to Sir Henry Parks who set in motion the popular movement resulting in Australian Federation. We make one last discovery before departing town, the Tenterfield Saddler! Explore this historic High St Saddlery that attracted many to town including one famous customer, A. B. “Banjo” Paterson. We now hit the road arriving in to Armidale where we’ll settle in for the next 4 nights.

Joined by a local guide, we reveal the Armidale history while listening to the tales of the bustling modern commercial centre that lives alongside a bygone era. Enjoy a fish and chips lunch this Good Friday before getting your cameras ready to explore the region’s spectacular Dorrigo National Park. Witness the sights and sounds of the lush rainforest and discover more about its vital ecosystem at the Rainforest Centre. You will feel on top of the world as you stroll above its canopy while gazing over magnificent panoramas along the Skywalk. Making our way back to Armidale, we stop at the magnificent Wollomombi Falls. Hearing the thundering falls cascading over the rim of the mighty mountain ranges, you can’t help but feel the power of nature in all its glory.

DAY 4: (BLD) POWER, MUSIC AND WOLLEN MILLS Saturday 20 April 2019

A fun fill day ahead as we venture to Tamworth to discover that it’s not only known as “Country Music Capital of Australia”, but also the "First town of Lights." It was here that the first municipal electric lighting in Australia lit up the streets. Uncover this story while wandering through the Power Station Museum displays that showcase the innovations in electrical science. Enjoy lunch at the iconic Longyard Hotel, with an atmosphere that is distinctly country, before strumming by The Big Golden Guitar. Discover the town’s country music roots at the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame and unveil the lyrical treasures of the Walk a Country Mile. Departing Tamworth, with country music in our hearts, we arrive back into Armidale in time for dinner.

DAY 5: (BLD) DISCOVERING URALLA Sunday 21 April 2019

Happy Easter! Today we travel to the pretty village of Uralla. Stopping at the McCrossins Mill Museum, you’ll discover that this gorgeous old building houses an excellent exhibit of Captain Thunderbolt. Listen to your guide as they unveil the series of paintings that document the events that led to his death. Enjoy morning tea here before the highlight of our day, the Inverness Park Cashmere Farm. Be taken through the process of shearing and spinning to the final product. A lovely lunch is also offered here rounding out our morning. Gostwyck has a beautiful little vine veiled chapel sitting on the willow bordered banks of a stream. As we approach, a wonderful image of yesteryear is created by the Elm trees that line the avenue. Further along, we discover that the registered National Trust building of Deeargee Woolshed, with a most unusual octagonal design and three-tier roof is still in use today. After a charming day, we head back to Armidale.

DAY 6: (BLD) EXPLORING GLEN INNES Monday 22 April 2019

Farewell Armidale this morning and head to Scottish settled town of Glen Innes. Meeting our local guide, we are taken through the pretty township before witnessing its dedication to all things Celtic at the Australian Standing Stones. We are now in for a truly unique experience at the Land of the Beardies History House. Discovering that this old hospital is bursting with eclectic artefacts, you will spend your time pouring over the extensive collection of photos and documents, all the while developing a deeper understanding of the lives of the pioneers who built this town. Enjoying lunch here we then make our way slowly up to Tenterfield, taking in all the sights, we may also like to pop into a winery or two.

DAY 7: (B) HOMEWARD BOUND Tuesday 23 April 2019

Today, set in the middle of the Granit Belt’s rich and mixed farming lands we unveil one of its agricultural successes, the Granite Belt Brewery. Delight in the warm colours of Autumn that frame this cosy wooden brewery as you discover how craft beer is made before sitting down to enjoy a special final lunch. Tearing ourselves away from the enchanting surroundings, we begin our journey back to Brisbane. With comfort stops along the way you will arrive home with many new colourful memories to chat about amongst friends over a nice up of tea.
